Environmental Risk Assessments or “Phase Ones” conform to the scope of the American Standards and Testing Materials (ASTM) Practice of 1527 as revised November 2006. Our assessments utilize records search and on-site investigation to determine potential environmental risk.
Botanical and Biological Assessment and Inventory
Botanical and biological studies range from general community assessment to species specific inventories and mapping. This information is used in a wide array of applications from base-line habit studies to National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation.
Rare Threatened and Endangered Species Assessment and Survey
Rare Threatened and Endangered Species Assessments include critical habitat screening, habitat evaluation and modeling to determine the likely presence or opportunity for Rare Threatened and Endangered Species. Species specific survey are performed in conjunction with State and Federal Endangered Species Act (ESA) requirements.
Aquatic and Terrestrial Habitat and Functional Assessment
Habitat and functional assessments apply to a range of applications from base-line lake, stream, wetland and terrestrial habitat documentation to complex quantitative and qualitative models used in permitting, mitigation design and ecological restoration.
Wetland Assessment and Delineation
Wetland Assessment is a planning tool used to determine size, type and quality of aquatic resources of a given area. Our assessments are used for watershed modeling, habitat assessment and in site screening and selection, land use planning and provide a preliminary understanding of the regulatory requirements, time and costs associated with a potential development. Wetland Delineations identify and map the specific boundaries of aquatic resources. Earth Source was involved in the Corps of Engineers Peer Review Process for the regional supplement wetland delineation manuals which provides our staff a unique insight into the intent and application of the various delineation methods employed across the Midwest.
GPS and GIS based mapping provides the framework for a myriad of ecological assessments. Land-use and cover-type mapping, tree and plant inventories, aquatic assessment, aquatic and terrestrial habitat mapping and wetland delineation.
