Heartland Restoration Services Website Update (04-30-2009)
Heartland's list of Available Midwestern Native Plant Species has been updated along with each and every individual species page on the website. Information has been added, photographs have been updated, and the pages have been reformatted for easier interpretation.
Earth Source and Heartland Website Update (03-27-2009)
The 2009 list of available native plant species and 2009 Native Seed Mixes are now on-line and available for ordering. Please note that there are several new mixes and most of the seed mixes have been re-designed based upon field observations of native habitats and previous project sites. Heartland is currently working to complete their 2009 Seed Catalog, if you are interested in receiving a copy, please fill out the form on the right of this screen or request a catalog on the Contact Us page.
Heartland Restoration Services Presents at Fort Wayne Home and Garden Show (02-26-2009)
Ben Hess, Heartland's Nursery Manager gave a presentation entitled "Sustainability with Native Plants" that highlighted the use and benefits of native plants in our environment. Ben's presentation included a review of non-native, invasive, and adventive species in Indiana; recommended native substitutions for common landscaping and ornamental plantings; and discussion of native plants as solutions for storm water and waste water treatment, erosion and sediment control, and low-maintenance landscaping alternatives.

Although the entire website has received a facelift, the Ecological Restoration, Land Management, and Native Seed Nursery portions of the site have received a large infusion of new content.
The Ecological Restoration section of the website has been supplemented with information regarding:
· Environmental Mitigation Projects
· Lake and Pond Shoreline Enhancement and Stabilization
· Prairie, Wetland, and Woodland Restoration
· Stream Restoration and Stabilization
· Bioengineering and Erosion Control
· Natural Storm Water Treatment Systems
· Future updates will include a portfolio of recently completed projects.
The Land Management section has been supplemented with information regarding:
· Invasive Plant Species Control
· Prescribed Burn Management
· Mechanical Control and Removal
· Chemical Application and Treatment
· Future updates will include a portfolio of recently completed projects.
The Native Seed Nursery section has been supplemented with information regarding:
· Informational pages describing color, flowering time, and growing conditions for each species
· Photographs of most plant species
· Future updates will included additional plant photographs, descriptions, and companion plants
